Our few days in Connecticut were spent camping at Wilderness Lake Campground in Willington. The site was right near the lake, and I had this lovely view to wake up to in the mornings.

The weather was a bit overcast and foggy while we were in town, but we decided to drive into Hartford and check out Bushnell Park downtown. There was still plenty of fall colors left to take in. We walked through the park, checking out the scenery (trees, state house, and pond).

We decided to do a little more walking and headed over to Talcott Mountain State Park, where we took the Heublein Tower trail. It’s a bit of a steep hike for some of it, heading up toward the tower. Then, the climb continues with the steps leading up to the top of the tower. The reward is a nice view of fall colors below. Apparently, Connecticut has a longer fall foliage season than the other New England states.

Back at the campground, we had a few quiet evenings. There weren’t many other campers there, so we had lots of room to spread out. It was a really serene place to spend some time.
