More from Texas!

Since we’d planned to hit several stops in Texas, we bought a state park pass, and we have really gotten our money’s worth! And we aren’t finished yet; we plan to visit one or two more before moving into New Mexico.

We have also camped at a few of the Lone Star State’s parks: Cleburne, McKinney Falls, and Guadalupe River. We plan to stay at Balmorhea soon, as well.

One of the state parks, where we didn’t camp, but that we found to be really pretty and fun, was Enchanted Rock State Park. The dogs got to check that one out, too.

While in Hill Country, we had to stop in at Luckenbach, well, because of the song…

Its oldest building is a general store/bar, built in 1849, which we visited. The town once had a whole 492 residents (circa 1904), but was a near ghost town by the 1960s, and was purchased in 1970 by a rancher to open up the dance hall. Now, it’s more of a tourist attraction, with outdoor music nightly, and frequent concerts in the dance hall.

Anyway, we grabbed some drinks and took in some music, watched roosters run amuck, and chatted with some interesting folks! The girls danced, and we all had a great time.
