We spent about seven weeks in Louisiana. We got there a week before Christmas, and stayed until the first of February. Here’s why: Wren!
She got to town in mid-January, so we just had to spend some time with her before heading out West. That baby has changed our itinerary quite a bit, but it has been well worth it.
We met her when she was a week old, and we left Florida five weeks later. So, it had been a good 3.5 months since we’d seen her last. We were beyond excited to come back from a quick trip to Mississippi to find her at Mama and Daddy’s. We were happy to see Kim and Marco, too, though we were all sad he was leaving for Afghanistan soon; but I had definitely been suffering Wren withdrawals and needed that baby fix: that clean baby smell, those little fat rolls, the gummy smile. Gorgeous creature!
We had two weeks with her in Louisiana, and once we left for Texas, she and my parents and Kim came for the weekend before we got too far down the road!
We were at Cleburne State Park, about five hours west of my parents’ in Louisiana, and they made the trip for Mama’s 65th Birthday. So, we got to have another weekend with Ms. Wren (aka Birdie) before moving on.
If we’re lucky, she will meet us in California for a visit while we are out there. I think Kim is ready to take a trip back to the West Coast. Until then, I will just continue to look at all my pictures of that sweet baby and do some FaceTime here and there!

Your best work so far! 😉
