School has been in session for a week. We started last Tuesday, after the Labor Day holiday; we did two days (Tuesday & Wednesday), skipped Thursday and Friday (for Disney World), and did Saturday and Sunday. Today finished our first week. Five days down, and it usually takes between three and four hours a day.
We are using the My Father’s World curriculum, and though we’ve had some transitions (getting them to see us as teachers during school time), it’s gone pretty well so far. Writing and reading is still more review of what was learned in Kindergarten. The girls are doing some refreshers on patterns, dates, simple addition and subtraction in math, but harder stuff is to come.
The curriculum covers devotionals, daily readings, music, art, some history, Bible history, and natural science.
I figure we’ll work lots of geography in during our travels, and PE will be in the form of hikes, playground time, and outdoor exploration.
Speaking of outdoor exploration, I’m even discovering a newfound interest in science. We learned about bees and wasps in our reading today, and then found some wasp nests under a picnic pavilion. We also learned about ants, snails, and slugs, and we managed to find some massive snails at the beach by the RV park. Who knew? Science is fun!

So cool! Can I be in yalls class too?!?
